Composites UK is pleased to announce that Ken Smart, McLaren Automotive’s Executive Director for Business Strategy at the British luxury supercar maker famed for its innovative use of composite materials, will speak at its 2019 Awards Dinner.
The dinner will take place on 30 October 2019 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, UK, to coincide with the Advanced Engineering Show at the neighbouring Birmingham NEC. The event is a celebration of the UK composites industry, its innovations and exceptional personnel over the past 12 months.
At the dinner, Ken will talk about the company’s strategy for the future use of fibre reinforced polymer composite materials and the positive effects this will have on the composites supply chain.
Ken is no stranger to composites, becoming the Chairman of the Composites Leadership Forum (CLF) at the end of May this year, so is well positioned to make this address. He is currently working with the CLF stakeholders and working groups to support the industry and help it achieve its predicted growth targets.
McLaren Automotive will also display one of its latest models at the event, as well as several other composite components including a carbon fibre Monocell and logo preform.
Claire Whysall, Communications Manager at Composites UK added, “We are delighted to welcome McLaren Automotive to our Awards Dinner. One of our goals as an Association is to facilitate communication between end-users and the rest of the composites supply chain so to have a globally renowned, innovative brand such as McLaren Automotive champion the importance of the industry in this way is fantastic.”
The shortlist of the 2019 nominated entries for the eight award categories given out at the dinner will be announced soon. Tickets to attend the event are available to book now with over 240 seats already sold. Attendees range from SMEs to Tier1 companies with single seats and tables of 10 available.
